Honda rider Marc Marquez and Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi avoided a penalty after a commotion in the San Marino MotoGP qualification at the Misano Circuit on Saturday (9/14).
At first Marquez was behind Rossi when qualifying entered the last lap. Because he wanted to improve his time in qualifying, Marquez overtook Rossi on corner 11.
But The Doctor was disturbed by Marquez’s decision. Rossi can again overtake Marquez in corner 13.
Quoted from Autosport, Rossi moved wide at bend 14. Marquez still continued to put pressure. The two riders almost collided. The gesture of Rossi and Marquez both showed disappointment.
As a result of the incident, both Rossi and Marquez were equally unable to improve their record in qualifying. Marquez still started in fifth position, while Rossi was in seventh place for the San Marino MotoGP on Sunday (9/15).
Rossi and Marquez were called race direction at 16:45 local time for an examination. But there were no sanctions for the two riders from the results of the meeting.
Marquez and Rossi are known to have a relationship that is not harmonious after the 2015 Malaysian MotoGP incident. At that time Marquez fell after being kicked by Rossi. Competition both heats up in Argentina’s MotoGP last season.
In addition to the incident in the San Marino MotoGP qualification, Marquez was also called race direction in the Austrian MotoGP because of a dispute with Alex Rins in the qualification.
